Requires the two center incisors on the lower jaw with tissue removed. Histological damage to tooth tissues is caused by exposure to excessive heat as in boiling and/or chemical agents such as bleach.

It is important to extract the tooth without breaking off the root tip, where the cementum-annuli are most distinct. The attachment between incisor and mandible of the ungulate is largely soft tissue that can be severed by cutting with a sharp knife on either side of the tooth. After the cuts, the tooth can be loosened by gently twisting and rocking it before pulling with an extractor or pliers.

Do Not Include Any Soft Tissue or Blood. After teeth are clean simply place them in the envelope. DON’T put the teeth inside a plastic bag, tape, a film can or anything else.

"Four Simple Steps- to Ship your deers teeth for Aging"

1. Take a paper (not plastic) envelope, 3"x 5" coin envelopes work great. Then print or type:

 Name

 Address

 Email address (if available)

 Telephone number

 Species

 Date of Kill

Identifying info (ie. 8 pt or 10 pt. or Dad's buck etc.)

2. Place prepared teeth (see section on tooth preparation) in the envelope.

3. Have a second container, either a bubble envelope or box, (this protects teeth from damage of postal machines during mailing) and address it to:

Whitetail Labs

PO Box 465

Oscoda, Mi. 48750

4. Place the envelope with the teeth, along with a check or money order made out to "Whitetail Labs" and seal both in the bubble envelope (or box) and mail.

5. "Optional" We would love to have a picture of your buck and you. We may use it in our "Hall of Fame".

"Thanks for using Whitetail Labs, we get you the correct results"

Lab Turnaround Time- Cementum-aging requires a bit of time because of the complexity of the process and the number of the teeth being processed. However we endeavor to have the information back into your hands
by late spring or summer.
